Operations Executive
Location: Somerset House, London. 2 days per week in the office required.
Salary Range: £26,000 – £28,000 per annum
Full time 1 year contract

Pluto Press is a radical, independent publisher with a long, impressive history. We are majority owned by a charity and 10% staff owned. We operate a transparent, open, and collaborative working environment with cutting-edge books by fantastic authors.
We are looking for an Operations Executive to support the accuracy, organisation, and flow of data across our systems as our list and operations continue to expand.
The Operations Executive is a new role at Pluto, reporting to the Head of IT and working closely with the Data Analyst. You’ll be working across departments – bringing data together, working with systems and helping to establish new processes.
Perfect for someone who will flourish in a busy environment and enjoys variety in their job, the role will give you broad experience across our publishing. You’ll be working with production on print and ebook files, finance and editorial on author contracts, sales and marketing on catalogue data and the website. You will play a central role in maintaining the accuracy of our publishing data, ensuring that title information, digital files and contract data are correctly managed across our internal systems and external platforms. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with technology and willing to learn.
Essential Criteria
- Experience with MS Office
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, sorting, filtering, and data cleaning
- Experience working with databases, ideally book databases
- Organised and proactive with excellent time management skills
- Clear communicator, friendly, and helpful
- Attentive to detail and able to balance urgent priorities with regular tasks
- Successful at managing deadlines
- Ability to work with a range of colleagues
